A great day at Beamish for day 1 of the 1950s Festival. The Festival continues until Sunday. We had an interesting visitor, Peter Gill from Yorkshire, who told us about his time working for Mitre in Ossett making the old leather footballs. Each panel was hand stitched to the next and it took about 45 minutes to make a ball. They were paid by how many balls they made in a day.
Olivia enjoyed trying out one of our rattles!
Peter Sixsmith arrived really looking the part!
