Durham Amateur Football Trust recently held a Football Tournament and World Cup Exhibition at Beamish Museum. Five local schools fielded teams in the tournament, with Escomb, Witton le Wear, Oxclose, Peases West and Oakley Cross Primary schools kitted out in the famous colours of some of the north-east's historic sides - including Crook Town and West Auckland.

Record four-time Amateur Cup winner and Trust President Jimmy McMillan was on hand to present the victorious team with the Jack Snowdon trophy, and Marsha from ASDA in Stanley kindly provided half-time oranges and refreshments to those taking part. You can browse more images from the football tournament on our Flickr site.
The exhibition featured games and toys on loan from the National Football Museum in Preston, and attracted more than 1,700 visitors over the half-term week. Tyne Tees Television, BBC Tees Radio, the Northern Echo, Sunderland Echo and Wear Valley Mercury were all in attendance. More images from the exhibition can be viewed on our Flickr site.
Durham Amateur Football Trust would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Beamish Museum for helping create such an enjoyable week, particularly Outreach and Access Officer Helen Barker - thank you!
