The award will see the Trust employing an Education Development Worker for the twelve month period over which the project will run.
The new project has four main aims:
1. To engage a group of young people (aged 13-25) with the region's sporting heritage by giving them a full understanding of the skills necessary to create an exhibition, website and opening event
2. To supervise this group in creating an exhibition, website and opening night - concentrating on the social aspect of the 'Glory Days' of amateur football in the north-east to engage others with this heritage
3. To act as a learning resource, including the planning and delivery of workshops, structured talks and learning resources, for GCSE and A-level Physical Education students who need to develop a 'deep understanding of the development of (local) football from pre-industrial Britain through to the modern day' as part of their curriculum
4. To engage a Volunteer Task Group to digitize a rare collection of 'Sporting Pink' newspapers and to widen access to these as a reference and research aid via an online presence
